1984 Justice
THE Human Being: All the people who value human life and see the reason for defending human rights would have an opportunity to meet a man, be in presence of that person whose heart, mind and body have been devoted to fight; fight you ask? Yes fight against injustice. Regardless of personally knowing the faces, names and dates on that one person that you might have known or thousands of those human lives, who you did not, were burnt alive, brutally raped and left in stacks in trucks, trailers, to be burnet to ashes. For those departed souls, one must not only mourn but also fight until the power players are punished. Once punished the next important task that living souls and enlightened minds must do is to ensure that such an embarrassing narrative of history be never rewritten. Now who out of all of us is making sure that both of these "must does" are being embraced and lived as a constant heart beat since the long stretch of 31 years? Anyone? Name you might have heard but you might not have met him before. For all his life but more so since 1984, Mr. H.S. Phoolka, a Supreme Court lawyer from India, has absorbed pain of hundreds of survivors from state lead massacre of 1984 and after, and wept piercing tears of witnesses from past 31 long years. He has lived lives of all those thousands of survivors who have been struggling day and night to find faith in humanity, living haunting memories of their loved ones being dragged out of their homes and stripped off their lives to later thrown as pieces of meat piled to be burnt, some dead, some still alive..and seeking a norm, norm that they don't understand how to define.. Mr. H.S. Phoolka, a living legend, is coming to Canada in late Feb to early March. He will be in Vancouver for the two days from March 5th and 6th. If you want to be in the presence of this unique soul, a stubborn man who just does not know how to give up against corruption, bureaucracy and old dirty tricks of state and hear from him tell you straight what he has been carrying in his hearts and on shoulders from past 31 years then please spare an afternoon... Online you might or might not be able to find written details of his work, but if you could take a risk of trusting someone's word then please give that honor and come see him in person on March 5th, 2016, at Aria Banquet Hall from 12:00-3:00pm. It will be a free program for all.
