Celebration of Guru Nanak in each of us

ਗੁਰੂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇਓ,

ਜੀਵਨ ਜਾਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਛੋਹ Celebration of Guru Nanak in each of us.

As you friends know that from past five years, with your support Our Global Village Charitable Foundation has been spreading love, care and awareness to our homeless community of Surrey.

It is with YOUR support we have served hundreds of hot meals to the homeless community of Surrey who were and many still are living in tents in the worst of the weathers.

It is with YOUR support we distributed them hundreds of new ( blankets, socks and hygiene products) and gently used cloth, shoes and other essential products.

It is with YOUR support we were able to motivate the both the provincial and municipal team government to finally build module houses for them.

We TOGETHER have achieved a lot. However, there is more for us to do and we have something that we can give.

These folks who are now living in these module houses still need much support to live a safe, healthy and dignified life and to hopefully find a way to reintegrate with the main stream by finding a job. Job training, counseling, rehabilitation from drugs and health care are some of the important tasks that government shall either take on or shall carry forward.

In the mean time that they find the health ( both mental and physical), skills ( both behavioral and technical) and opportunities to apply for the jobs, we know that we can provide some basic help by proving some personal grooming and day to day essential products. On our list we have:

Deodorants, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, feminine hygiene, travel size soap and shampoo, and reading glasses. New Socks are always in demand with our homeless community.

In early November we will be preparing packs for about 200 folks living in the Surrey shelters. We will invite anybody, especially youth to join us in this mission.

On the day of packing we will host “ਸੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਆ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ” event were we will sit in a homely atmosphere and host an informal dialogue amongst our volunteers on his teachings ( freedom, equality, justice and service) and how they translate into our day to day lives.
